If you're like us, you know that good policy is really not all that complicated.  Experience and common sense teaches us, for example, that:

1. Spending money you don't have and have no hope of getting is a recipe for disaster.

2. More government is rarely the solution to a problem.

3. Each individual must take primary responsibility for his own well-being and that of his family.

4. Every judge and prosecutor has a duty to apply the law as it is written, and not as he or she wishes it could be.

5. The people of a nation should determine for themselves the laws which will govern their lives.

Although the above ideas are common sense to us, we have learned that they are not common sense to everyone.  Bigger government, larger debts, irresponsibility, emotional decisionmaking and internationalism seem to be the order of the day.

If you believe, as we do, in limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, the rule of law and national sovereignty are encouraged to SIGN UP so that we can get you involved!

I agree with the "common sense" approach outline; I have signed up; what is on the horizon for the Tea PArty in Garland?

Thank you.

I'm ready to go!
by Richard Glasgow  2009-12-17 22:57:44
I've been to the Tea Party in Addison and the one in Dallas a few weeks ago. I'm not sure how big the movement is here in Garland, but it needs to get bigger. Keep me posted.

Richard, what zipcode are you in?

I believe in the common sence of government please keep me informed so I can help.

It's time for the government to hear the voice of the people. I've never been more fearful for the future of America then right now.

We MUST take Dallas County back from the DEMONcrat LIBERAL PROGRESSIVES. We must restore Conservative values back to our local, county and state as well as to our schools. No longer can we sit by idly as these UNCONSTITUTIONAL PROGRESSIVES take over our communities, states and federal governments and our very lives. We MUST do all we can even it it is just blogging or carrying signs at protest.

When and Where do we meet? When can we get together? It is very important for us to make decisions about our government. I have been to the Dallas Tea Party, Ft. Worth Tea Party and even the Bedford Tea Party. When and Where does Garland meet. This is where I live and would love to become active locally.

If these are your principles, then it seems to me that everyone here will be voting for me in Nov. over Angie Chen Button. I hope that's true. The Libertarian Party is the only small government political party in existence. Let's kick out all the incumbants: the GOP and the DNC are both the incumbants, whoever holds office.

Is the Garland Tea Party a dead issue?
by  texasbeta  2010-04-13 15:10:09
As for issue 1, does everyone know that every single country on the entire planet uses deficit spending to get out of a recession. This is a basic, very basic, element of economics. Why is it that in order to be a tea party supporter, you have to ignore the most elemental facts?

When your bank account is empty, do you get a loan so you can spend more or do you cut back. Why do you think Government should be any different. Unless you are prinyting money at home, you cannot spend yourself out of debt.
by Christy  2010-04-16 12:44:37
Excessive government spending has resulted in a national debt that is now 60% of GDP growing to an unsustainable 90% of GDP which results in ever lower standards of living. 670 billion dollars worth of tax increases have already been signed into law which increase prices for evryone and kill job growth. These tax increases can't keep up with these record high deficits and exploding national debt which has quadrupled under the current administration. The democrat party claims to be for the little guy but they are now proposing gasoline and VAT taxes that are regressive, which punish the poor more than anyone. Ever increasing taxes, excessive deficit spending, an out-of-control national debt, and federal government pushing to cinfiscate private industry results in an ever weakening economy and job losses (not to mention a lack of job creation).
by Christy  2010-04-16 12:54:31
It is a basic economic fact that if the national debt of a country exceeds a certain percentage of GDP the standard of living for that country will decline. This is more than just a little deficit spending to get out of a recession but excessive deficit spending to cover programs we can't afford. Instead of Keynesian economics, whic research indicates to be a failure, study Adam Smith and free market capitalism.

This so-called Wall Street Reform Act contains a liquidation fund for the FDIC to ensure future taxpayer funded bailouts and creates the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, yet another federal bureaucracy with unlimited authority to take over any bank without judicial review. This is just another government power grab and attempt to demonize banks as an excuse to nationalize yet another industry as the banks have paid back the tarp money already. Political mandates pushed by the Democrat party and the Community Reinvestment Act enforced by the Clinton administration required banks to underwrite risky loans as well as securities that resulted in the financial crisis. This bill will not prevent a future crisis. This administration and congress want to expand the size of the federal government and centralize authority when the majority of Americans want limited, constitutional federal government. We all know what a horrible job government bureaucracies do of oversight. Where is the tran

Where is the transparency and oversight for the federal government, congress, and the bureaucracies they create?
by Christy  2010-05-01 14:50:11
A desperate democrat party is trying to cancell your vote by trying to pass legislation giving the vote to convicted felons, HR 3335. This is yet another reason to vote for Constitutional Conservatives in November and during the primaries for friends in other states.
